The clearest sign you are clairvoyant is that visual impressions arrive uninvited, carry details you would not have chosen, and turn out often enough to be about something outside your own head that you have started keeping track. Nearly every other item on the usual lists of signs you are clairvoyant describes something that happens to almost everybody.

Vivid dreams, a strong imagination, feeling drained in crowds, loving thunderstorms: none of that is evidence. It is just being a person. The signs actually worth examining are narrower, less flattering, and easier to test than most articles admit.

Signs You Are Clairvoyant, and How to Check Them
The words overlap more than most people selling them admit.

The signs that point somewhere

These are the ones working readers tend to describe when you ask what it was like before they had a word for it.

  • An image shows up with a detail you did not pick. You think of a friend and see her standing in a stairwell holding a blue folder. You were not constructing that. The folder is the tell, because invented images do not usually come with props you have no use for.
  • You see the picture before you feel anything about it. Imagination generally runs feeling first and image second. Clairvoyant impressions tend to run the other way, and the meaning arrives late, sometimes days late.
  • It interrupts. It happens while you are parking the car or halfway through a work call, not while you are sitting quietly hoping for something.
  • It is the wrong content for the moment. You are talking about a holiday and get a picture of a hospital corridor. If your own mind were generating it, it would be on topic.
  • You can describe it more easily than you can explain it. People who see clearly often struggle to say what an image means and have no trouble at all saying what was in it.
  • Other people's houses come with pictures rather than just a mood.

Notice what is missing from that list. Nothing about being special, nothing about being an old soul, nothing about being drawn to the moon.

The signs that get listed anyway

Several items appear on almost every article of this kind and carry very little weight.

Being sensitive to other people's moods is common, and where it is a genuine perceptual difference it points at clairsentience rather than clear seeing. Deja vu is a normal quirk of memory. Seeing shapes and colors behind closed eyes is the visual system idling. Strong intuition about people is often accumulated pattern recognition, which is genuinely valuable and is a different claim. And a lifelong interest in the subject predicts nothing except a lifelong interest in the subject.

None of this means your experiences are not real. It means these particular items cannot tell you apart from the general population, so they cannot answer the question you came with.

How do I know it is not just my imagination?

You do not, from the inside. That is the honest answer and it is worth saying plainly, because the internal feeling of a clairvoyant impression and the internal feeling of a well-built imagined one are not reliably distinguishable in the moment.

What separates them is external. Detail you did not have access to. Timing you could not have engineered. Content you had no reason to produce. A single hit proves nothing, because coincidences happen constantly and we only notice the ones that land. A pattern over months, written down before it was confirmed, is a different thing entirely.

The writing down is the whole trick. Memory quietly edits impressions toward accuracy after the fact, and it does this to everyone, with no dishonesty involved anywhere. A record made before you knew the answer is the only version you can trust.

A check you can run on your own

Keep a small notebook for four to six weeks. Every time an image arrives uninvited, write three things: the date, exactly what you saw including the odd details, and what you think it is about, marked clearly as a guess. Do not clean up the strange parts. The strange parts are the data.

Then leave it alone and go back after six weeks. You are looking for specific hits on details you did not know, not vague ones you can bend to fit. "I saw water and then we went to the coast" is nothing. "I saw a cracked windshield on the passenger side and she called two days later about exactly that" is something.

Most people find one of three results. Nothing much, which is a real answer and a perfectly fine one. A handful of unmistakable hits inside a lot of noise, which is what nearly every working reader describes. Or a steady rate that surprises you, in which case you have something to develop and would benefit from someone experienced to check your work against.

If the answer is yes, what then?

Nothing has to change. There is no obligation attached to this, no calling you are failing to answer, and nobody is keeping score. Plenty of people notice they get accurate images now and then, find it mildly useful, and carry on with their lives unchanged.

If you do want to work with it, the useful skills are unglamorous. Describe the picture in full, including the parts that make no sense to you. Say when you are unsure. Learn which images are yours and which are borrowed. Stop when you are tired, because tired seeing is inaccurate seeing and every experienced reader will tell you the same thing. And keep the notebook going, because it is the only feedback loop available to you.

One caution worth stating plainly. If the images are distressing, arriving constantly, or coming with a sense that you cannot control your own mind, that is worth raising with a doctor or a therapist first. It may turn out to be nothing. It is still the right order to do things in.

Getting a second read on your own experience

Self-assessment has an obvious limit: you are the least neutral person available. If your notebook has something in it and you want a sanity check, a short live chat reading with a vetted advisor is a reasonable way to get one, because you can describe two or three of your own impressions and ask a working clairvoyant how they would have handled them. Ask for their read, then ask how they tell their own imagination from the real thing. The answer to that second question usually tells you more about their skill than the reading itself does.

Where to take this next

If you would rather talk it through than read about it, Jonah Pike and the rest of the roster read by live chat, and how a live reading actually works explains what to expect before you start one. There is more in the psychic readings library, and if you are not sure what you are looking for yet, the quiz is a two minute way in.
