Privacy policy

The short version

You can browse this entire site, read every article, and chat with an advisor without creating an account. We collect the minimum needed to run the site, we don't sell personal data, and we don't run third-party tracking scripts.

What we collect

• Newsletter email. If you subscribe, we store your email address and a confirmation status. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, which removes your address from our list.
• Anonymous page counts. We count page views in aggregate (which pages, which day) to understand what's useful. This is first-party, contains no personal identifiers, and uses no cookies.
• Referral cookie. If you arrive through a partner's link, we set a single first-party cookie for up to 30 days so the partner can be credited. It contains only the partner's code - nothing about you.
• Contact messages. If you email us, we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to help you.

Live chat conversations

Chats with advisors are provided through a chat service embedded on advisor pages. Conversation content stays between you and your advisor; we do not publish, share, or sell reading content. The chat service applies its own technical processing to deliver messages, as any messaging tool does.

Store purchases

Purchases are completed on our payment partners' secure checkout pages. We never see or store your card details. The payment partner shares only what's needed to fulfil your order (such as a delivery email for digital items).

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how visitors find and use the site. When you first visit, all measurement consent signals are set to "denied" and a banner asks for your choice. Choose Accept all and analytics cookies help us measure visits and improve the site; choose Essential only and no analytics or advertising cookies are set. Either way the site works exactly the same. Your choice is remembered for twelve months in a single first-party cookie, and you can change it any time right here:

• No selling or renting of personal data - to anyone, ever.
• No tracking without asking: analytics runs only with your consent, and declining changes nothing about what you can read or do here.
• No accounts required, so there's no profile of you to leak.

Your choices

Unsubscribe from the newsletter with the link in any email. Clear the referral cookie in your browser at any time, and revisit your cookie decision via the "Cookie preferences" footer link. To ask about or request deletion of anything we hold (such as a newsletter address or an email thread), contact us and we'll take care of it promptly.
