Gift a reading on their birthday
Choose a reading, tell us their first name, email and birthday, and add a note. We hold it and email it to them at about 8:00 am on their birthday, in their own time zone, signed with your name. Most of these readings need nothing but their date of birth, and none of them needs a birth time.
How it works
- Pick a reading below and tick "This is a gift" on its order form.
- Tell us who it is for: their first name, email, birthday and time zone, a note of up to 300 characters, and the name to sign it with.
- Pay once. We email you when it is set, with the exact delivery time.
- On their birthday morning they get an email from us saying who it is from, with your note and a link to their reading. You get a short email once it has gone.
If their birthday morning is less than 3 hours away, or the birthday was within the last 7 days, it goes as soon as it is ready, and a late one says so kindly.

These are worked out from the birthday you give, so you can order them without asking the person anything. Each one says exactly what it needs. Where a birth time would add something, you can add it on your order page after paying, right up until the reading is sent; without one, the report leaves those parts out and says so.
Solar Return: Your Year Ahead $55
Astrologers call the birthday a solar return: the Sun comes back to the exact degree it held at birth, within about a day of the date. Tradition reads the chart cast for that moment as a map of the year it opens, so this reading is made for the day itself.
What you need: Their full date of birth, year included. A birth time and city add the rising sign and houses of the year; without them the report leaves those out and says so.
Mini Reading: Your Three Keys $19
A short first reading built on three things worked out from the birthday: the Sun sign, the Moon sign and the numerology Life Path number. A gentle start for someone new to astrology.
What you need: Their full date of birth, year included. No birth time or city.

Readings written by one of our readers can be gifts too: every reading in our readings has the same option. The reader writes it, and it is emailed from our readings address on the morning.
What they receive
One plain email from our readings address. The subject line says who it is from ("Alex sent you a birthday reading"), then comes your note, then a link to their reading as a PDF. The link works for 30 days, and after that the file is deleted. If you gave your own birthday, the email also links to a private page where they can see the date and send a reading back to you. Their email address is not added to any list, and the email carries a one-click link to stop any email from us.
Your email address stays with us. They see your first name and your note, and on that private page your birthday month and day, nothing more.
How to read a birthday reading
These readings come from traditions of interpretation. Astrology reads the sky at a moment; numerology reads the digits of a date and the letters of a name; tarot reads a card. The planets in these reports are worked out from their real positions for the date, but what a placement means is the tradition's reading, not a forecast of events or a promise. Many people enjoy a birthday reading as a moment to reflect on the year behind them and choose what they want from the next one, and that is the spirit we write them in.
What we keep, and how to stop
With the order we keep their first name, email, birthday month and day and time zone, your note, and your own birthday month and day if you give it, for as long as we keep order records. We keep their birth year only when the reading is worked out from it. We email them once, with the reading, and never add them to a list. To change their details or cancel a gift before its day, reply to your confirmation email. Anyone can stop email from us with the one-click link at the foot of every message.
Questions people ask
When does the reading arrive?
On the morning of their birthday, at about 8:00 am in the time zone you choose for them. We work out the date from the birthday you give, and hold the reading until then.
Their birthday is tomorrow. Is that too late?
Not if their birthday morning is more than 3 hours away when you order: it still arrives that morning. Closer than that, we send it as soon as it is ready: about an hour for the reports worked out from a chart, within a day for readings written by a reader.
Their birthday was last week. Can I still send one?
Yes. Up to 7 days after the birthday it goes out straight away as a belated gift, and the email says so. After that it waits for their next birthday.
Do I need their birth time?
No reading here requires one. A birth time and city add the rising sign and the houses to the chart based readings, and you can add them on your order page after paying, right up until the reading is sent.
Will they see my email address?
No. They see your first name, your note and the reading. If you give your own birthday so they can send one back, they see the month and day, never your email or birth year.
What if I typed their email wrong, or want to cancel?
Reply to your confirmation email before the day. We can correct their address, name, birthday or time zone, and we can cancel an order that has not been sent. If their inbox refuses the reading, we send it to you instead so you can pass it on.
Born on February 29?
In years without a February 29, the reading arrives on February 28.
