What happens when you start a chat
No surprises, no pressure, and no card details to say hello. Here is the whole thing, step by step, before you click anything.
-
1 Pick a reader who is online
Green dot means they are at their desk right now. Open their profile and scroll to the chat box: it is built into the page, so nothing downloads and nothing pops up.
You are not committing to anything by opening a profile.
-
2 Type an email and pick a PIN
The chat box asks for two things. Your email, so a transcript can reach you and the reader can find you again if the connection drops. And a PIN that you make up on the spot, any digits you like, which is simply how you get back into the same conversation later.
This is not a card number and it is not a password to any account you already own. Making one up fresh is the right thing to do.
-
3 Wait a moment while your reader is called
The box changes to a waiting message. Nobody phones you, nobody video calls you, and your screen is not shared. It is typed messages only, in that panel, on this page.
If a reader turns out to be tied up, the box says so rather than leaving you guessing.
-
4 Your reader says hello
Their messages appear in the panel and yours go in the box at the bottom. Start wherever you like: a name, a situation, one question. You do not need to explain everything first.
Saying hello and asking what a reading would cover does not cost anything.
-
5 Hide it, or reload it, any time
Above the chat there are two small links. Hide chat folds the panel away so you can read the rest of the page in peace, and puts it back when you press Show chat. Reload chat re-loads the box if it ever fails to appear or freezes.
Hiding the chat never ends your conversation, and reloading keeps you in the same one.
-
6 Money, only if you choose a paid reading
If you decide you want a full reading, your advisor tells you the price first and you choose whether to go ahead. Payment happens on a normal secure card page, and you can stop at any point before that without paying anything.
You will never be charged for saying hello, for asking what is included, or for deciding it is not for you today.
The questions people actually ask first
Do I have to give card details to start?
No. Starting a chat asks for an email address and a PIN you invent. Card details only ever come up if you choose a paid reading, and only after you have been told the price.
What is the PIN for, exactly?
It is a short code you make up so you can return to the same conversation from the same device or a different one. Choose anything memorable. It is not connected to your bank, your email password, or any account you already hold.
Will anyone call me or ask to see my screen?
No. It is typed messages inside the panel on the page. There is no phone call, no video, and no screen sharing.
What if the chat box does not load?
Press Reload chat above the panel. That re-loads the box without losing the conversation. If it still will not appear, your browser may be blocking it, so try a different browser or turn off an ad blocker for this site.
Can I read the page while I wait?
Yes. Press Hide chat to fold the panel away and carry on reading. The conversation stays open, and Show chat brings it straight back.
What happens to my email address?
It is used to reach you about your reading. Our privacy policy explains what is stored and how to have it removed.
