What does it mean to dream about someone who died?
Dreams of someone who has died are very common in grief, often vivid and calm, sometimes upsetting. Many people feel them as a visit. A reader cannot confirm that and will not claim to have reached them. A gentle reading can help you sit with what the dream gave you and what feels unfinished; a bereavement counsellor helps with the grief itself.
Dreams of someone who has died are among the most common dreams in grief, and among the most tender. A reader listens first and claims nothing they cannot know.
What a reader can tell you
People describe these dreams in similar ways. The person looks well, sometimes younger. They say little, or something simple, and you wake feeling calm or loved, or wake crying. Many traditions call these visitation dreams, and the people who have them often feel very sure. Other dreams are harder: the person is ill again, upset, or alive and then lost a second time. Both kinds are common, especially in the first year, and a hard dream does not mean they are suffering.
A reader will not tell you that your loved one came to you or that they left a message, because nobody can know that, and it would not be honest to pretend otherwise. What a reader can do is listen to the whole dream without hurrying, and help you notice what it gave you: comfort, a goodbye you did not get, guilt, or a question you still carry. Some people find it helps to write back to the person afterwards, or to say aloud what they wanted to say.
Not dreaming of them at all is common too, and it says nothing about how much you loved them. If the grief feels too heavy to carry, or you are not sleeping, a bereavement counsellor, a support group or your doctor are the right people to lean on, and a reading should sit alongside that, never instead of it. Be gentle with yourself about how often you go back to the dream. Many people do, for a long time.
