Why did he block me?
No reader can tell you why he blocked you; only he knows that. A reading can start with what happened just before it, what kind of block it was, and what you need now: closure, an apology you may never get, or permission to stop checking.
A block ends the conversation without explaining itself. A reader cannot hand you his reasons, but can read the last exchange with you and help you choose what to do with the silence.
What a reader can tell you
People block for a short list of reasons: to stop themselves reaching out, to stop seeing your posts, to end an argument they felt they were losing, to keep a new partner calm, or because they felt crowded. A reader cannot tell you which one is his, but they can read the last few messages back to you in order and notice what changed. A block after a fight reads differently from one that comes out of a quiet week, and both read differently from one that follows five unanswered messages in a night.
Not every block is the same move. Blocked on one app but not another, muted, removed from followers, blocked and then unblocked a week later: each keeps a different distance, and the articles below set out the differences. A block on everything at once tends to be the most deliberate. A block on one app can be about what someone does not want to see there, including your posts. An unblock with no message restores access; it is not an invitation, and it is worth waiting to see whether words follow.
The one thing most readers will talk you out of is going around the block with a new number, a second account or a friend's phone. Whatever his reason, the block is the one clear thing he did say, and going around it is not the way to the conversation you want; it can turn an ending into something you regret. A block is also an ending with no goodbye, so it is fair to grieve it. The useful work is deciding what closure looks like without his help, and a reader can do that work with you.
