Tarot Reading Online by Chat: What It Costs and How It Works

Last updated: October 29, 2026

A tarot reading by online chat is a typed conversation: you write your question, a reader draws or reads the cards and types what they see, and you can reread every word. At SpiritClick, one answer costs $7 and packs bring it down to $4.00 an answer. You pay per answer, never per minute, and your first answer is free.

How does a tarot reading work by typed chat?

You open a reader's chat in your browser and type your question. The reader draws or reads the cards and replies by typed message, describing what they see. Each reply uses one answer from your balance, and because the whole reading arrives in writing, you can reread every word of it at your own pace.

A reply that the reader splits over several messages within two minutes counts as one answer, so you are not charged for how the reader breaks up their text. Nothing is charged by time. If you stop to think before your next question, no meter is running.

Having the reading in writing means you can go back over what the reader saw in the cards before you decide what to ask next. The trade-off is that written chat takes longer to read than a phone call.

For context, Pew Research Center reported in 2025 that "about one-in-ten Americans consult tarot cards at least annually."

What does a tarot chat reading cost at SpiritClick?

SpiritClick charges by the answer, not by the minute. One answer costs $7, 3 answers cost $15 ($5.00 an answer), 8 answers cost $35, and 15 answers cost $60 ($4.00 an answer). You pay per answer, never per minute, and your first answer is free.

The free first answer is for new customers. Answer packs are bought inside the chat, and unused answers stay on your balance, so a pack does not have to be used in one sitting.

Because nothing is charged by time, a slow reply, a pause while you think or a long typed explanation does not change the price. The cost of a reading is simply the number of answers it uses.

SpiritClick is text chat only. There are no phone calls.

How does per-answer pricing compare with per-minute services?

The large services checked here bill by the minute, with rates that vary by reader, while SpiritClick bills by the answer. On their own sites on October 29, 2026, Keen, Kasamba, California Psychics and Psychic Source all showed per-minute pricing and offered phone or voice readings. SpiritClick publishes this page and is one of the services compared.

Keen charges per minute at each advisor's own rate. Advisor rates shown on its category pages ran from $1.99 to $15.55 a minute, and new customers get their first 5 minutes for a $1 deposit. Keen offers phone and chat.

Kasamba charges per minute at a rate each advisor sets, with chat and voice priced separately. Advisor rates shown on its pages ran from $1.99 to $26.99 a minute. New customers get 3 free minutes on a first reading, a payment method is required before they start, and Kasamba's terms say a partial minute is rounded up to a full minute.

California Psychics states that its psychics' prices range from $5 to $23 per minute, depending on the psychic's tier. New customers who buy 5 minutes get 15 minutes free. It offers phone, chat and text.

Psychic Source bills per minute from a prepaid balance, and each advisor sets their own rate. Its pricing page says rates start at $0.99 per minute, and the highest rate shown on the advisor profiles checked was $12.99. New customers can get rates as low as $1 per minute. It offers phone, chat and video.

These services offer things SpiritClick does not: phone readings and larger reader pools. SpiritClick has no phone readings and a smaller reader pool than the large per-minute services. Rates and offers change, so check each site before you buy.

If a service bills by the minute, ask what one question costs before you start.

Prices read on each service's own website on October 29, 2026. For per-minute services the cost of one question assumes a 10-minute reading at the lowest and highest rates seen; your reading may be shorter or longer, rates differ by advisor and change, and new-customer offers are listed separately. What should you ask in a tarot chat reading?

Ask one clear question at a time about a situation you can describe in a few sentences. Each reply uses one answer, so a focused question gives the reader something specific to read the cards on. No one can say in advance how many questions your first reading will need; that depends on you.

Put the context in your first message: who is involved, what has happened and what you are trying to decide. Typing it once means the reader can refer back to it in later replies.

Open questions, such as what you should understand about a situation, leave the reader more room than a single yes-or-no question. You can still ask yes-or-no questions if that is what you want to know.

Because your first answer is free, you can start with one question, read the reply, and then decide whether to buy more answers. A tarot reading is not a substitute for medical, legal or financial advice.

Which SpiritClick readers read tarot?

Two SpiritClick readers list tarot among their specialties: Luna and Mira Hollis. Luna also works with dream interpretation, divination, crystals and energy healing, manifestation and psychic readings. Mira Hollis also works with palmistry and divination. Both read by typed chat, and a new customer's first answer is free.

Luna's specialties are tarot, dream interpretation, divination, crystals and energy healing, manifestation and psychic readings. If your question mixes the cards with a recurring dream or something you are trying to bring about, her range covers both.

Mira Hollis's specialties are tarot, palmistry and divination. If you want a reading centered on the cards and divination rather than dreams or energy work, her specialties match that focus.

When might a phone reading suit you better?

A phone reading may suit you better if you want to hear a reader's voice, talk back and forth quickly, or avoid reading long replies. SpiritClick does not offer phone readings; it is text chat only. Keen, Kasamba, California Psychics and Psychic Source all list phone or voice readings on their own sites.

Written chat takes longer to read than a phone call, and typing out your situation can take longer than saying it. If speed matters most to you, a call may fit better.

Chat may suit you if you want a reading you can reread, want time to think between questions without a running meter, or are somewhere you cannot talk aloud. If you choose a per-minute phone service, check the advisor's rate before you start, since rates vary by advisor.
